The comedian, who is a big Kansas City Chiefs fan, shared her experience of working with tight end Travis Kelce on TODAY with Hoda and Jenna. The duo starred in a romantic bedroom skit among other sketches when Kelce hosted the programme following his 2023 Super Bowl victory. When retelling the story, the 40-year-old comedian playfully said sorry to music icon Taylor Swift, who is dating Kelce.

Gardner revealed that she was very protective of Kelce during his SNL stint. “I asked him questions, which as a sports fan I am just interested in. Like on game day, what do you eat? He [Kelce] was like ‘Oh, Uncrustables. I’m just pounding Uncrustables’.

“So the Saturday of the show I went to the store and got Uncrustables. I wanted it to feel as much like home as I can. Right before dress rehearsal, we were in a scene where – sorry Taylor – we were in bed together but he leaned over into me and said “I’ve been eating Uncrustables all day’.”

Gardner expressed regret, particularly about the ‘Garrett from Hinge’ sketch, where Kelce is seen in bed with her, only to be interrupted by an intrusive Hinge date. Jason Kelce also featured in the show, portraying Gardner’s current beau in a scene where she encounters her ex, played by Kelce, at a pub. This skit aired months before Kelce and Swift’s first meeting at the Eras Tour concert.

Kelce’s stellar Super Bowl performance, where he racked up 81 yards and a touchdown, aiding the Chiefs in a thrilling comeback against the Eagles, coupled with his SNL stint, thrilled Gardner immensely. The long-time SNL cast member hosted a family tailgate party on set and relished the chance to rub shoulders with numerous beloved Chiefs players.

It was honestly cool,” Gardner gushed on Julian Edelman’s ‘Games with Names’ podcast, reflecting on her experience with Kelce. “What was cool was that a Chief was hosting SNL and that’s how it, I felt the whole week. My whole family came out, I threw a tailgate in the dressing room, that’s all that it was for me, it was cool
